Fillings

We offer white or silver fillings. White fillings bond better and can be used to reshape or rebuild broken or worn teeth, although they are not always successful if the filling is very large. For larger fillings you may wish to consider crowns or inlays. Veneers can also be an alternative to fillings on the front teeth

Crowns

Crowns are an ideal way to restore teeth that have been broken, or have been weakened by decay or a very large filling. A crown, sometimes known as a ‘cap’, is an artificial restoration that fits over the remaining part of a prepared tooth, making it strong and giving it the shape of a natural tooth.

Dentures

Dentures can replace a few missing teeth and can be fitted straight after teeth have been taken out so that no-one knows you have had teeth removed. A partial denture is the easiest way of replacing missing teeth, but some people find this uncomfortable and eventually decide to have a bridge or implant made.

Extractions

As disconcerting as the idea of having a tooth pulled may be for some, there are times when it’s a simple fact of life that matters dictate that a tooth must be extracted. From experience, we know that if a dental patient knows what to expect in regards to the tooth extraction process and understands some of the basic oral surgery principles involved, then the more likely that their extraction procedure, and the healing process that follows, will be uneventful. This is because they will be more relaxed, more cooperative and more likely to actually follow their dentist’s post-operative instructions.

Dental Implants

Dental implants are a great way to replace missing teeth and also provide a fixed solution to having removable partial or complete dentures. Implants provide excellent support and stability for these dental appliances. Dental implants are artificial tooth roots used to support a restoration for a missing tooth or teeth. The dental implant procedure is categorized as a form of prosthetic dentistry, but is also considered a form of cosmetic dentistry.

Veneers

A veneer is a thin layer of porcelain made to fit over the front surface of a tooth, like a false fingernail fits over a nail. Sometimes a natural colour ‘composite’ material is used instead of porcelain.

Veneers make teeth look natural and healthy. Because they are very thin and are held in place by a special strong bond (rather like super-glue) very little preparation of the tooth is needed. Some types of veneers don’t need any preparation at all.

Bridges

A fixed bridge is made by putting crowns on the teeth at either side of the space, and then joining these two crowns together by placing a false tooth in the space. This is all made in the laboratory and then cemented into place with special adhesives. The bridge cannot be removed for cleaning. Another option is an adhesive or “Maryland” bridge. This has wings that are bonded to the back of the supporting teeth with very little drilling involved.
